A Day in My Life

Dear Friends,

I thought you might enjoy a small view into my daily life in Florida. I have said it often and it remains true that I very much enjoy the quiet days at home in my garden,

playing solitaire,

spending time with Bobbie,

watching the crabs,

feeding stray cats,

and Iguanas who frequent our property.

I still spend time in my studio but am very happily doing little else.

Soon we will leave to spend the summer in North Carolina. I love it there too, but have enjoyed this time near the ocean immensely.

Eric Carle

  2. Hi Eric,

I just came across your blog, and it is wonderful to get a peek in to your world. I've been a fan of yours since I was wee, and your books inspired me to work hard toward a career in the children's book field. Thanks for creating such beautiful and touching work!

    Best wishes,
    Lauren

  3. Hi Eric,
Irecently completed a quilt with your Very Hungry Caterpillar material. I also purchased the Brown Bear fabric as soon as it was available. I found your blog through the museum website and it is on my list of blogs to watch. If you would like to see the quilt, it is on my blog bradyladyquilter.blogspot.com Both of these quilts are destined for my daughter's kindergarten class where she teaches in Maplewood, New Jersey. I love your fabrics! Please continue to design more.

  4. I am a preschool teacher in Minneapolis, MN. This summer we are doing an author focus. I would love to have an 8x10 photo to show the children of who you are so they can see who creates the books we will be reading.
Would you have something you could send me or something I could purchase. I LOVE your books! Today I read Little Cloud to the class as we are studying weather.
    Thank You!

  6. Hi Eric,

Thank you for sharing about where you spend your time and what inspires you to work!

I first found your blog through a Google search when I was looking for a place to link to you from in an article I wrote this morning reviewing the "Brown Bear & Friends" audiobook (2008). I enjoyed listening to your interview on the CD and learned a lot about your creative process and friendship with Bill Martin Jr.

If you're at all interested in reading what I thought about Gwyneth Paltrow's performance and that of the Spanish voice over artist, Adriana Sananes, please follow this link:

  12. I just visited you today at the Festival of Books. The 2+ hour wait for an autograph was worth it. I have a signed copy from 22 years ago and now the 40th Anniversary pop up! November is Eric Carle month in my classroom. We write The Very Hungry Turkey and learn about commas, capital letters, days of the week, beautiful language, and so much more from reading your books. Thank you!

  16. Dear Mr. Carle,
I'm a lowly Library Assistant at Greenbrook Elementary School in Southaven, MS. I love your books as much as the children. We had a teacher pass away 6 years ago whose favorite books were yours. She even used an apron in her class for helpers. We miss her very much. Thank you for inspiring teachers and children.
If you ever want to visit Mississippi, we would love to have you at our school.
    Thanks,
