Christa's Birthday

Here I am with my sister Christa who turned 60 in January, 2010.

I was already a young man when she was born (we are more than 20 years apart in age) but I always wanted a sibling and was so happy when she was born.

Christa lives in Germany with her husband and has two grown daughters of her own now. I dedicated my book The Very Hungry Caterpillar to my sister and have been thinking of her during this time of celebration.
Happy Birthday Christa!

  1. Happy Birthday, Christa!

I hope that someday, when my children are grown, they will think of each other this way; your words made my heart smile!

  4. Every night when we read THE VERY HUNGRY CATERPILLAR we include the line, 'For my sister Christa.' Thank you for letting us know a little more about her.

    Happy birthday, sister Christa!

  5. My son LOVES The Very Hungry Caterpillar, too. Gabe is only four and half years old and he has his dad hold onto him so he can eat all the food as a caterpillar and then be swept up in the air so he can fly like a butterfly.

    Happy Birthday to your sister!

  7. My niece is named after your sister Christa because I was looking after her sister (2 years old) on the night that her mum gave birth. I must have read "The Very Hungry Caterpillar' 20 times that night and each time we talked about 'my sister Christa'. When we visited the new arrival the next day the proud parents were still discussing a name for her. I said that Susie and I had been referring to her as 'my sister Christa' . Both parents decided that they liked that name so christa she was. Christa is now a stunning 22 year old.
