A Rug Design

This is a photo of a rug based on the design I created for the end sheets for my book Baby Bear, Baby Bear, What Do You See? (written by my friend, Bill Martin Jr). It is in my home and I enjoy its colorful design on a daily basis. I am very pleased with how this small image was blown up to a large scale faithfully. The rug is a wool and silk hand-hooked rug and was made by Tibetan artisans. Perhaps one day I will become a rug designer!

Lovely! My students and I have been so inspired by you and have been painting paper for years but we have just started felting with various wools. The texture of the fibers is great and I can see how designing rugs would be a exciting new material. Please keep on designing I would love to see more beautiful rugs! :)

Just came across your wonderful blog which unfortunately has become yet another distraction and excuse for me not to put pen to paper whilst supposedly writing my dissertation on ‘Colour and Texture’. Needless to say your work is a huge influence and thank you for all these years of
illustrative inspiration! Once a designer...always a designer!
