  1. "I am a GOOD artist.... In art you're supposed to be free...." What lovely sentiments! Thank you for brightening our lives, Mr. Carle!

  2. I am a new artist, now, at 59. And I began to paint again four years ago, sporadically then, but more now, because of you. I have your video from the museum and I just started with painting papers in all sorts of "wrong" colors and silly designs. I started using collage in my water colors. You, sir, with your blue horse and red alligator and polka-dotted whatever... You were the inspiration for me to simply begin to play again. Thank you. I have to get your book for my best friend! She needs a blue horse about now.

  5. I love your new book! Such a great lesson for kids (and adults alike). It was such a pleasure to meet you at the book signing yesterday. I really appreciate how you make everyone feel like they are the only ones in the room. It is a day we'll never forgot.

Today we gave one of your signed books to the art teacher at my sons' school. He does an Eric Carle unit with the kindergarteners. I cannot tell you how excited he was to receive a signed copy of one of your books; he was almost near tears. Thank you!

  10. I just bought a copy of "The Artist who Painted a Blue Horse" with the thought of try to get you to sign it for a friend of mine. She loves your books. She is retiring from teaching next year. She teaches Headstart (preschool). I would love to be able to give her a signed copy of your book. But, I live in VA. Is there a way to get a copy signed?

  11. Mr. Carle, I am a children's librarian and we just received "the Artisst who Painted a Blue Horse". I read through it and loved it. I wanted to tell you about a classmate of mine. Her name was Paula Palmer. When we were in Kindergarten--she colored her horse picture blue. The teacher was irrate because the assignment was to color the horse in a natural color. I vividly remember feeling so bad for her. I am now 44 years old. Around ten years ago or more--Paula died of cancer. This has been my most vivid memory of her--and her blue horse. Thank you for this book. and for honoring people like Paula.
