More about Beyond Books Exhibit

Here are two more images from the Beyond Books exhibit, currently on display at The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art. In this photo I am painting a large abstract mural on the floor of my studio in Northampton, MA. The mural is made with acrylic paints on Tyvek, the material used to wrap houses that are under construction.

Here is one of my pieces made with painted glass. My friend Tom Patti, a glass sculptor, helped me to experiment with this new medium. This piece accidentally became cracked. But I actually like it better now than before the glass had broken.

I am delighted to have this chance to share my non-illustration work. I hope you will enjoy it!

  1. I do! I'll think twice about throwing out a broken picture frame, now.

  2. this is wonderful and I just love the photo of you up top. I reminds me of an image I saw of a buddhist monk that had created an enormous calligrpahy piece. His brush was big like a mop! Seeing you hovering over your work has the same kind of impression, to me.
