In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? in 2017 I will be sharing images from the book throughout the year. I hope you will enjoy them!
This book has brought years of joy to my life. Some of my very first memories are of my sister "reading" this book to me over and over again. She couldn't actually read but instead just had it all memorized. She was a great big sister to share her favorite story with me and now I have been able to share it with her children as an aunt. This is her first year teaching preschool and I see her with your books at work now too. Thank you for sharing your artwork and stories! I don't who I would be without children's literature. ❤️
I wish the Brown Bear fabric panel and other Brown Bear fabrics would be reprinted. They made wonderful quilts for new moms. The quilt and the book, made for a great present and learning experience for the child. I made several Brown Bear Quilts for presents and now that I have twin granddaughters I can't make one for them. But they have the book!! Please get the fabric reprinted!!!
The Very Hungry Caterpillar is one of the more than 70 picture books that I have written and/or illustrated. I was born in the U.S. and was raised in Germany. My background is in graphic design but since the late 1960's when I illustrated Bill Martin Jr's Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? I have been creating books for children. My illustrations are collages made with my own hand-painted tissue papers, a technique many children have replicated and enjoyed in their classrooms and at home. With my late wife Barbara, I am also the cofounder of The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art in Amherst, MA.
