  2. Dear Mr. Carle,
It is truly a pleasure to be able to get a glimpse into the life of an incredibly gifted author and illustrator. I’ve been a fan for years and as a teacher I developed many lessons and units using your books to teach different concepts. My 19-month-old daughter has also developed a love for much of your work -- too many to list. Thank you for all that you do to make the world a more colorful and enjoyable place. We’re excited about the pop-up version and look forward to enjoying it!

    Sincerely, The Betzes

  3. These images of children getting enjoyment from your work are beautiful and, surely, must never get old. Thanks for 40 years of The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and may there be 40 more.

Your Caterpillar is one of the few books that I remember from my childhood. I loved to poke my fingers through the holes in the book. Now my children love your caterpillar, too--my son loves to put his fingers in the holes, and my daughter loves it when we hit the end and she gets to see the beautiful, colorful butterfly. Personally, now, my favorite is the little egg on the leaf. So peaceful. Such simple storytelling, such gorgeous illustration!

  4. I just discovered your blog. I am a special education teacher, right now working with a Developmental Kindergarten class. We love your books, especialy the predictable language. All of my students have severe language delays and the books are perfect to encourage language through the use of language boards/ through their own voice. My own daughter is 18 months and she loves your books too!!

  5. Dear Mr. Carle,

Thanks for making this world a better place!
Thanks for filling our life with color and for transforming simple things into masterpieces without letting them lose the beauty that only simple things have!
Thanks for the caterpillar, for the collages, for being who you are and for inspiring so many lives!

    Sincerely,

    Adriana

  7. As a first grade teacher and mom-to-be, I love your books especially the Very Hungry Caterpillar! I was one of the strawberries in a class play when I was in first grade :) and my best friend starred as the Very Hungry Caterpillar. Since then, your books have been some of my very favorite books! My baby-to-be (due on April 14th) is already acquiring some board books of yours for his library and we have received the Very Hungry Caterpillar rattle and teether (from Target) at his baby shower. I cannot wait to visit your museum one day! Sincerest congratulations are extended to you on 40 years of the Very Hungry Caterpillar. Each year, I have my students create an "Eric Carle collage" to celebrate our your books and illustrations. You are an author-illustrator that they recognize and love!

    Sincerely,
    Shannon Johnson

  8. Thanks so much for sharing your gifts with the rest of us. My one year old son had heart surgery and as he lay confined to the crib for 2 weeks there was only one way to coax a smile...The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Through the IV lines and EKG wires he took great delight in poking his tiny thumb into the holes as we read the story. Thank you for alleviating the suffering and lightening our lives. May God richly bless you.

  12. Dear Eric,
It has been many years since I was fortunate enough to meet you and Bobbie. I'll always remember when you thought my name was Emery only to discover that it was really Ann Marie. I am grateful for the times that I was in your presence. Although I have no photographs to look at, the afternoon spent having tea and Eric Carle fruit salad at your home in Northampton will be in my head and heart forever.
I hope that you and Bobbie are enjoying your new homes.
    With love,
    Emery

Thank you for giving us The Very Hungry Caterpillar, such a wonderful and colourful book. My 3 year old daughter loves it and today as soon as she woke up she asked "Mummy, can we read The Very Hungry Caterpillar before we get ready for school?"
Will you have any exhibitions in London?
    Congratulations and many Happy Returns!
    With very Best Wishes,
