I am so glad I found this site. I am learning more about your writing from this. My First grade class always enjoys it when we learn about you and all of the books you have written. I have quite a collection and I ask them to bring any others they may have to share with our class. Your books are so fun to read and share. Thank you! Marie
Dear Mr. Carle, A very happy, healthy New year to you and your family!
I first purchased 'The Very Hungry Caterpiller" in the UK for my (now 36 & 38 yrs old) young sons. Now, I am reading it to my 2 1/2 year old Grandson and enjoying it even more. My husband and I visited your museum in Amherst last year, and really enjoyed the experience. The whole place was buzzing with young parents and children and I had my photo taken in front of the big Celebration cake. I felt the same excitement of the children present and we so enjoyed our day there, thank you! Stay healthy and continue to delight us all, Best regards to you. Marian and Family xoxoxo
Eric Carle, how exciting to get to read your blog! I love your books and was wondering if you're still writing? I'd love to talk to you.. if you get a chance, please Email me at tylyn_8@yahoo.com thanks!
Mr. Carle, I am 7 and I am writing a report about you. Can you tell me your parents names? Thank you I love every book I have read by you. Reid Koslowski
I have asked my students to view your website and to respond to your art as lay readers. They're neither education nor design students. They come from engineering, accountancy, and sciences faculties. But they say they decided to take Children's Lit as an elective because they'd like to re-discover their childhood. I'm sure they'll love your books.
Hi Mr. Carle!!!! I´m an english teacher from Brazil and I used your book The Very Hungry Caterpillar to teach numbers, colors and so on.....The kids loved. I am so happy to have found your blog. Thank you!!!
Dear Mr. Carle, My 7 year old daughter and I have been reading your books since she was born and have always been among her favorites. We recently toured the museum and both my children loved it, especially "The Hermit Crab" performance. My daughter decided she wanted to do her second grade biography book report on you and we just finished reading your autobiography. Your life was so fascinating to read about and it literally brought me to tears many times as I was so moved! We are so blessed that you have devoted your life to children's books and your brilliant art is breathtaking. THANK YOU for bringing the joy of art to our children through your illustrations. My daughter is an aspiring artist and I see the same passion in her that you describe. Maybe we will have the opportunity to meet you sometime on the streets of Northampton. My daughter would love that (as would I)!
2010.....my washer broke, i cut my hand and had to get 6 stitches, my relationship is all but over, my son won't lose his cough, i've been laid off.....can't wait for this year to pick up some. happy new year mr. carle.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar is one of the more than 70 picture books that I have written and/or illustrated. I was born in the U.S. and was raised in Germany. My background is in graphic design but since the late 1960's when I illustrated Bill Martin Jr's Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? I have been creating books for children. My illustrations are collages made with my own hand-painted tissue papers, a technique many children have replicated and enjoyed in their classrooms and at home. With my late wife Barbara, I am also the cofounder of The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art in Amherst, MA.
Happy New Year, Mr Carle!Happy New Year everyone!(ROAAARR!!!)
