The Very Hungry Caterpillar Day!

I am delighted and honored to tell you that March 20th this year is the 3rd annual Very Hungry Caterpillar Day! To celebrate, events and programs are being planned around the country in schools, libraries and bookstores.

In March and April, The Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia will be performing their wonderful black light puppetry productions based on my stories in various theaters around the U.S.

Also, The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art is holding a day of activities including a visit from the caterpillar himself!

The Very Hungry Caterpillar will also be making appearances at additional boosktores and other locations. You can find out more at the Penguin USA web site

Thank you everyone for celebrating this day!

  2. Hooray! My 3-year-olds are studying your books all year. For every theme I try to find and Eric Carle book that goes along. They have learned what an author and illustrator does and can identify your books by the art style. Tissue paper collage is in the works. We haven't done The Very Hungry Caterpillar yet. Looks like March 20 is the day!

  4. I do not know how I have been a fan of your for so long and never knew about your blog! We were not in attendance on March 20th(Spring Break) so we celebrated today by reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar. My students loved telling me the words to the story. I am such a huge fan of your work, both in writing and illustrating. Next week we will be making tissue paintings as well. Thank you for your amazing literature which enhances my students daily reading!
