- Eric Carle
- The Very Hungry Caterpillar is one of the more than 70 picture books that I have written and/or illustrated. I was born in the U.S. and was raised in Germany. My background is in graphic design but since the late 1960's when I illustrated Bill Martin Jr's Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? I have been creating books for children. My illustrations are collages made with my own hand-painted tissue papers, a technique many children have replicated and enjoyed in their classrooms and at home. With my late wife Barbara, I am also the cofounder of The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art in Amherst, MA.

ReplyDeleteI have been a huge fan since young and still find inspiration in your work. I now own a company of my own called Frameri. I created the first interchangeable Rx glasses company to help people express themselves and be fun again — all things I've learned from you. In fact our branding mimics the color and fun I learned from reading your books when I was younger.
I know you must be busy and I'm not sure where you live now, but I would fly anywhere to sit down and have a coffee. I'm very serious about this. It would mean the world to me and would not take more than 10-20 minutes. I know it must sound crazy, but it would truly be an honor from a lifelong fan.
I really hope you take it to heart, because it would mean so much to me. If possible I would love to try and set it up around your schedule. Thank you in advance for your consideration. Feel free to email me anytime if possible; it would be a dream come true.
