We are Mrs. Turner's first graders in Texas and we are researching and learning all about YOU! We are wondering if you are still writing books and what is your latest book? Also, we would like to know which book was the most difficult for you to illustrate and write?
Thank you for your time! We hope you are able to answer our questions!
Hi Mr Carle The City of Marion Libraries South Australia where I work in the children’s team are doing a huge celebration of the Hungry Caterpillar. There is going to be storytelling and craft sessions with local kindergartens invited, cutouts of the caterpillar and some of the food, finger puppets and lots more. The book is a hot favourite among the Children's Services team at the library and any chance we get, we pick up the book to read to kids! Regards, Suman Savur
The Very Hungry Caterpillar is one of the more than 70 picture books that I have written and/or illustrated. I was born in the U.S. and was raised in Germany. My background is in graphic design but since the late 1960's when I illustrated Bill Martin Jr's Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? I have been creating books for children. My illustrations are collages made with my own hand-painted tissue papers, a technique many children have replicated and enjoyed in their classrooms and at home. With my late wife Barbara, I am also the cofounder of The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art in Amherst, MA.
